Last weekend Mr. Man of Mine and myself had brunch up at Sundance Ski Resort. And it was great.
Good Food.
Good Date.
Good Day.
I can't believe that we did long distance. I don't ever want to go back, this time is just too nice. I feel like a spoiled girl now. But I seriously am loving every minute of actually having regular amounts of time and creating moments together.
Here's a project that's good at making you feel creative without really having to be creative.
I was feeling creative...semi; but I had I found this easy project on this little lovie's blog awhile ago and really have been meaning to try it out. I have several paintings I did in college that I really had no interest in hanging up at any point. Much like all my art stuff, they are just unhappy and sitting in my portfolio case waiting for a breath of fresh air.
I've had the supplies for this project forever, most of the stuff you need you could find around the house. It's really simple, all you need is:
Old painting/painting-by-numbers/whatever you choose really Paint brush White antique color paint (doesn't have to be white, but that's what I used) Vinyl sticker letters (can get these pretty much anywhere)
Step One:
Find Painting- easy enough right?
Step Two:
Figure out what lyrics, quote, saying, word you would like to showcase-in my case it's from one of my favorite songs.
Reminds me of Mr. Man of Mine and myself and gives me smiles.
It's from the film Blue Valentine (which is extremely depressing, but in no reflexion of Mr. Man and mine's relationship, and is played during Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams love story)
Step Three:
Place letters on top of painting
Step Four:
Paint over the painting and the letters completely- the images are hard to tell, but I didn't make it completely white over the top, I kind of liked the see through look where you can can slightly see the patterns of the image which was once there before. This is totally up to your creative judgement.
Step Five:
Let it dry, son!
Step Six:
Carefully peel off the letters- depending on how sticky the letters are, some may stick more and peel part of the painting with it, bad joo joo.
Step Seven:
Call yourself an artist and admire your work!
I think this entire project only took me about 30 minutes total and maybe 20 to put together and paint before I let it dry.
Give it a try! Send me your photos if you partake in this fun adventure at ljacobson22@gmail.com
Next I want to try this variation. I love simple and color!
Okay, time for some catching up. As in the last two weeks catching up.
Two or Three Mondays ago (is it bad that I have no concept of time anymore?), I went and celebrated the finale of The Bachelor with some old friends Shanell and Dani.
Dani had suggested bringing over a treat to share. So of course I headed straight to Pinterest to find an recipe that I have been wanting to try.
And there it was...the Blueberry Cheesecake Tarts.
Looking at me all delicious like.
Don't worry, they taste as good as their name sounds.
...when everything and everyone starts to smell like Coppertone.
I looooove the smell of Coppertone.
Don't believe me? Let's not forget how inspired I was when I created this winner.
This obsession was created after I started working at Disneyland.
So many people would come in and out of that place that the smell of Coppertone sunscreen was one of the first signs that summer was gracefully approaching.
MMM...summer.
Most individuals went from smelling like wet dogs from the dewy winter
to sweet smell of summer and adventure that comes with it.
The exception to this rule, of course, is your red-headed folk, they have the pleasure of smelling like sunscreen no matter what time of year it is.
I decided to start this post off with a totally awkward picture of Blossom! Does she remind you of the awkward teenaged years of training bras for your ladies, but really not all there ladies and Limited Too before it became that store Justice?
I thought so.
And I just happened to be inspired due to the fact that the sweet sounds of Big Bang Theory linger in the background.
Awkward
+When you make a joke about how you're smarter than a monkey because you can use your thumbs, and then the other corrects you by saying that monkeys can in fact use their thumbs
+Asked what single's ward I belong to, but it's only awkward because of her reaction when I told her I don't go to one
+Not owning a full length mirror, going to work and realizing in a store window that your dress is a little too short for the work attire. oops.
+Walking through the food court and from across the way the Sbarro kid stares and points at you and says, "You.....(long dramatic pause/creepy stare)...you need pizza."
Awesome
+Getting your hair done and the urge to toss your hair back and forth like a Herbal Essence commercial
+Finding a new love for fish
+Running and keeping up with my training schedule
(it's not a easy one though)
+Reading, for fun. Thank you college graduation.
+Sleepless in Seattle
Come on! Meg Ryan, quirky Tom Hanks, cute, adorable kid pining for a stable mother figure?
How close to the perfect RomCom could you get?
Not much, my friend
+Having unhealthy obsession with the game Draw Something.
Man, thank goodness for filters for lazy people like me who don't want to do them manually in Photoshop, cause this effect is just perfect for the ice cream shop.
I was hoping for a Wonder Years feel and I truly believe that this filter captivates that.
Yes.
So, 2 Saturdays (yes, I'm that behind) my twin Alyssa and I (yes, she's my twin and the only thing that keeps us from being identical is the way our butts fill pants. A proven theory, established in high school.) Anyways, we drove all the way up to Ogden for some much needed girl time with our dearest friend Lindsey.
That mama has two extremely adorable kids but badly needed some girl time.
The 3 of us don't talk every week or see each other very often, but every time we do it's great.
And I love every minute of it.
I love laughing until we cry from reminiscing how awesome we were in high school.
And how cool we thought we were but didn't care if anyone else thought differently.
I will never forget those years, we had so much fun doing the stupidest things.
I look back at these memories with these girls and I will never want to take them back and only hope that my future children will have memories with great friends like I did.
Well we had a great time at dinner and talking over a tacky disney channel movie, because of the children of course ;)
I'm sure you've heard this song before. I'm assuming that you've heard it a thousand times and think it's terribly overplayed.
So what?! Who cares!
I've listened to this song, probably and unhealthy amounts of time on repeat. And I am surprised that I have yet to get sick of it.
One, I love this guy.
Two, I have missed your Format days.
Three, I'm so glad you're back.
Don't make fun, alright? Sometimes when I listen to this song, I for some reason get terribly emotional and sometimes water starts to gather around the base of my eyes BUT never fall.
I dedicate this song to my best friends/sister-wives Kathryn, Allie and Ronni. Everything we've done together or how I've felt about our time together up until now is pretty much conveyed in this song. This was us.
It was our anthem.
It was great.
Thank you.
(now water is starting to gather in my lower lids)
